Backups, storage & export
Move unused CC to a backup folder, restore it later, review storage state, and export records of your Mods folder.
SimSweep has a few different ways to help you manage what is on disk. You can manually move unused CC to a backup folder, restore it later, or export records of your Mods folder. The CC backup described here runs only when you start it. It is separate from Decrypt's automatic save backups, which copy Sims 4 save files based on the trigger or schedule you choose.
Backup unused CC#
This takes CC marked unused in the current scan and moves it to a folder you choose, clearing space in your active Mods folder without deleting the files permanently.
- Open the backup flow from Tools or the Home screen.
- Review the Safely Backup Unused CC overview.
- Press Choose Backup Folder and pick where you want the files to go.
- Optionally enable Protect script mod files to leave
.ts4scriptfiles where they are. - Wait for Moving Files... to complete.
If you change your mind, Undo (Restore) puts the files back.
Heads up: If your Mods folder is inside a cloud sync location like OneDrive, some files may be locked or cloud-only. The backup will work for files that are locally available.
Restore backed up CC#
Bring files from a previous backup back into your Mods folder.
- Open the restore flow from Tools or the Backups tab in Storage and Sync.
- Review Restore Backed Up CC.
- Press Choose Backup Folder and point to the folder where your backup lives.
- Wait for Restoring Files... to complete.
Storage and Sync#
Open Tools and select Storage and Sync for a deeper look at your backup and folder state.
Backups tab#
The Backups tab gives you three actions:
- Backup and Restore runs the same backup flow described above.
- Reclaim Storage helps identify space you can recover.
- Restore Backup runs the restore flow.
Manifest tab (Decrypt)#
Manifest export, import, and comparison require Decrypt. Export a snapshot of your current Mods folder as a manifest file. Later you can import that manifest and compare it against what is on disk, which shows which files moved, are missing, or are still in place.
- Export Manifest saves the current state to a file.
- Import and Compare loads a previously exported manifest and compares it to what is on disk now. Results show each file as Installed, Different Path, or Missing.
This is useful for tracking changes over time or verifying a folder after moving files between machines.
Export mod list#
Export a plain list of the files in your latest Mods folder scan for your own records or sharing.
- Open Tools and select Export.
- Choose a format: CSV, TEXT, or JSON.
- Save the file, or press Copy to Clipboard to grab the list directly.
Heads up: Export needs an active scan. If you have not scanned recently, run a scan first so the list is accurate.
